Blue's raindrops

the raindrops of life… some warm, some storm

Physical and details

Posted by blueraindrop on February 15, 2012

I’ve officially got my new ID badge. :-)

Physical was this afternoon…
Was really pretty nervous about it, given past instances where docs have been pretty stupid on things over my being fat (such as blaming my ear infections on it…), and knowing that the word of one doc I’ve never met before would be the final call on whether or not I got hired… and not really knowing what they were looking for on a physical for a job that didn’t seem to have an obvious need for one.

But all went smoothly.. and the doc actually seemed to be a pretty nice guy, who didn’t say a word about my weight… and told me I was clear for whatever I wanted to do. :-)

And so… about the job.

It’s a part time job, working for local government, as box office staff/ticket clerk.

Mainly based at one of the 4 different arena/convention centers in town… the one that’s usually where the more artistic stuff goes on like theater and symphonies… but they do also have a lot of different fairs and convention stuff that goes on there too, and the occasional smaller concert. (Christian music events used to frequently end up there until the newer medium sized venue in town was built.)

So hours are highly variable based on what exactly they have planned each week.

Apparently they do also use the same software at several on the museums in town, so may be working there too at times.

So, sometimes it will be on my feet all shift, but not always… sometimes it will be at a computer all shift, but not always… so with any luck, neither my feet nor my wrists will get upset about it enough to give me grief.

And, it sounds like it will be likely to be flexible enough to be able to work with school hours if things go that direction.

Plus, it gives an advantage on applying for other positions within the same government structure, even if in completely different areas. So it has potential benefits for future jobs.

So still remains to be seen on how the number of hours go… but it’ll work! :-)
